HURRICANE KATRINA

Women in Children's Media is deeply concerned for the safety and future livelihood of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. While we work on determining how WiCM can contribute as an organization, we ask you to join us as individuals in donating to the relief effort. We've put together a list of organizations that focus on efforts that intersect with the WiCM mission: children, media, women and education.

Please send ideas and suggestions for how WiCM can contribute to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort to Membership Chair, Stacie Billis, at stacie@womeninchildrensmedia.org.

EFFORTS LED BY WiCM MEMBERS

Emi Gittleman and her family have adopted the extended family of a dear friend, Jamilah Peters-Muhammed, that has lost everything as a result of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. Emi is working hard to rally help for the 42 impacted people in Jamilah's family who are temporarily being housed, with 300 other survivors, at a hotel 1 hour from Baton Rouge (Red Cross does not serve their town). At this time, Emi is collecting gift cards and money, as both are easy to obtain and ship at a low cost. Please get in touch with her to get specific details on how you can help her make a direct impact or to learn more about Jamilah and her family: Emigitt@juno.com.
